Working on next release


At this point, the published game is polished enough that I want to make sure each subsequent release is an actual improvement. That means I’m taking a little more time to figure stuff out. Yesterday I worked on implementing a tiles mode, but came to the conclusion that tiles support in rot.js is probably too limited to support the experience I want. So I’m sticking with character graphics for now, and the next solid chunk of work is going to be on adding monsters and soul effects (and whatever mechanics/UI affordances are necessary to support them).

(The attached image is from a test playthrough of the tiles mode. The monsters are not supposed to look like that, although I don’t hate the chonky Atari quality.)
